HYPERBOLIC CROCHET
Encouraged by women mathematicians who have woven their work using Crochet, I started to work with the so-called Hyperbolic Crochet. Experimenting with different stitches and forms, I created crochet sculptures based on complex mathematical principles.

The pioneer of this type of crochet was the researcher Dr. Daina Taimina, who found that crochet can be an ideal way of representing a hyperbolic plane. Following the lead of Dr. Taimina, appeared more crochet projects such as the Crochet Coral Reef by Margaret and Christine Wertheim and the beautiful project “Crocheting the Lorenz manifold” by Dr. Hinke Osinga.
